A striking American Art Nouveau 18kt Gold diamond shaped, beaded, and scrolled dimensional open work Pendant; the bale marked with the faint mark of F.W.L. F.W. Lawrence was a prolific designer and craftsman, trained on both the Jewelers’ Bench with Durand & Co. of Newark and then as a Silversmith with the firm Howard & Co. and later with Jewelers, Jacques and Marcus at the turn of the 20th Century. In his detailed and sculptural goldsmithing, one can feel the amalgam of the two disciplines, silver and goldsmithing. His sense of dynamic color usage in stones and design elements, are derived from both his excitement for and appreciation of the Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts Movements.
